DISTINGUISHING FEATURES: Amelia Bones, though on the shorter side standing at 5'4, has a sense of authority about her and that is something she works hard to maintain. Always dressing professionally whenever she might encounter someone outside of her home which is the only place she will allow herself to be 'casual'. Besides her neat and professional dress, Amelia rarely wears her brown hair, which falls to just below her shoulders out preferring to keep it out of her face either in a bun or ponytail. She's never been one for adornments though she will wear a watch wherever she goes.

PERSONALITY:Determined and ambitious are two of the first words that people think of when they think of Amelia Bones. She's head strong, knows exactly what she wants in life and will work hard to get there. She dreams of becoming the Head of the DMLE at the very least, if not the Minister of Magic. She wants to do the right thing and do it well which is why the other traits that seriously define her are Just and Fair. Amelia has always believed in doing what is right in all situations, to bring people the justice they deserve, especially after Catherine's death and the lack of closure they were given.
It is perhaps no surprise therefore that Amelia is quite stubborn. She hates admitting that she is wrong or has done something that turns out not to be for the best of the people. While she logically knows that people can make mistakes in life, that it makes them human. Unfortunately, it links well to Amelia's fear of failure, of failing people who are relying on her to do the right thing, of people who have been effected by crime. She doesn't want to wish the lack of closure on anyone, even her worst enemy. When caught in situations where she does feel like she's failed and not done the best that she can she can lose her temper often in a very sarcastic way, unless she's furious then she just lets loose.
While her extreme loyalty not only to her friends and family but the magical community as a whole and obsessively hard work ethic got her landed in Hufflepuff it wouldn't be a surprise that the hat considered both Slytherin due to her ambition and drive and Ravenclaw for her intelligence though this is mostly supported by her work ethic and determination to do the absolute best that she can do.
When she was younger she might have been more carefree and liable to acting out but as she grew older, especially after Catherine's death, she became focused on rule following and doing the right thing. School rules and laws are there to be obeyed and while you might mean well by breaking them it can lead down a path that could cause a lot of hurt.
Amelia is bound by her grief in her role in Catherine's death to this day. Not many people know, outside of her immediate family and her closest of friends this are aware of this. She's very good at playing the part and not showing emotions, appearing as if she doesn't blame herself. Edgar is perhaps the one who realises the most the guilt that she feels because he shares it with her.
While the Bones might be an old Wizarding family they have never put stock in Purist beliefs believing instead that hard work, good ethics and a moral centre ad well as loyalty to those around you will get you places. It is therefore perhaps not that surprising that there has always been at least one Bones member in the Ministry since it was founded.
Something that few people realise is that both Edgar and herself are quite big hypocrites in that they both preach family before work but they put so much effort into their work that they often put work before family. Hilariously, this is something they both grumble about the other one doing while not realising it is something they are guilty of as well.

MAJOR EVENTS: Amelia Susan Bones was born January 27 1981 to Benjamin and Michelle, Bones together with her twin brother, Edgar. They would eventually be joined by Andrew and then Catherine. Despite the age differences, the four of them were all quite close while growing up. The Bones were an old family, with ideals of equality that they passed down onto their children as best as they could. Amelia, from a young age was a force to be reckoned with. She wanted everyone to know that she didn't like the world as it was, she wanted to do what she wanted not what society dictated that she would do. Her parents eventually convinced enough people that it was just a phase and by her second year at Hogwarts she had (mostly) learned how to keep quiet.
That didn't mean she stopped believing it though, if anything she became more determined to succeed.
Before Hogwarts, she immersed herself reading as many books about the world as she could, especially History books and asking why things were. By the time she was seven she had the answers she needed and now had to work on changing things. It was very hard to convince people that an eight year old could do that and it was the only reason besides the ones mentioned above that she got away with it.
Staring Hogwarts, she knew she'd either be a Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff (though Slytherin was certainly an option as well) and it was the latter that the sorting hat decided to place her in. There she quickly became the leader of the girls in her dorm and even some of the older ones. She quickly made enemies as well, informing anyone that she thought was either a) bullying someone b) being rude c) being an idiot, exactly what she thought of them which more than often included the use of her wand and various hexes and jinxes that she had learned both before Hogwarts and while at school. By the time the end of her first year had come around she had spent an average of three months in detention for her behaviour over the course of the year.
During that summer, she had a long talk with her parents about her behaviour so by the time she started her second year she had backed down slightly from being so ferocious. That year, the students were still cautious of her and warned the new students about her which made some of the fear her and her temper but all in all it was calmer.
In fact, by the time she was a fifth year, she had calmed down enough and become someone that the younger years respected and looked up too that she was made a prefect and later, Head Girl much to her surprise. Still, she took her responsibilities seriously and didn't let anyone get away with misbehaving especially now that she could actually deal with it in a way that meant that she herself didn't get into trouble. She and her best friend sometimes had a good chuckle about this though.
Weeks after finishing Hogwarts, their life changed for the worst. Edgar and her had taken Catherine to Diagon Alley for the day. Catherine had always been a bit of a daredevil, loving the thrill of adventure. The three of them had been spending an afternoon in Diagon Alley when Catherine, just recently turned 14, decided she wanted to explore Knockturn Alley just because it was forbidden. Both Amelia and Edgar tried to talk her out of it but Cath didn't listen.
Catherine never came back.
After an hour had passed, Amelia ran to an adult - Tom at the Leaky Cauldron - who called the DMLE who went looking for her. They returned with Catherine's body. She had stumbled upon a deal of some sort that had gone wrong and was killed by a stray curse they would later be told by the Aurors who investigated the matter. She never believed them, especially with the lack of information that they were given. While logically, Amelia knows they aren't to blame she wishes to this day that they had convinced her sister not to go down there, that they'd done something to stop her from doing what she did.
At the end of the summer, she applied and was accepted into the Aurors with dreams of one day not only finding out the full story of what happened to Catherine but also of leading the department before moving up to become the Minister. While Auror training was incredibly hard work, she put 110% into it and did the best that she could. It involved a lot of long hours, many sleepless nights studying and practicing duelling, stealth and concealment and anything else she was learning at that particular time (or had learned previously).
By the time she graduated to a full Auror, she had already made quite a name for herself. She was known for her fairness, sense of justice and the fact that you didn't want to get on the wrong end of her temper (and wand). Besides enforcing the law, she has taken up the position of teaching Policies and Procedures to the Auror Cadets, which is challenging but enjoyable in its own right.
AFFILIATION: Ministry WHO DID YOUR CHARACTER VOTE FOR? Crouch Sr.
BELIEFS: Amelia while she is proud of her heritage isn't a Purist. She might not want to go to the extreme that some people want in having closer contact with the Muggle World - Witch Hunts anyone? - but at the same time she doesn't believe they should all be killed. They're magical people and should be brought into the Magical world, taught all about it and supported as much as they can be. It is the Ministries job to do this. Both the Death Eaters and Order are people she can't fully get behind. Death Eaters because she doesn't at all believe in their rhetoric or their use of violence against innocent people. The Order she has problems with because not all of them are fully trained, they are getting in the way and while they have done some good in counteracting the Death Eaters, they have also caused numerous problems for the Ministry. Despite that she does understand why they are fighting and agrees somewhat with their beliefs. She just doesn't think people who aren't properly trained should be on the front line. Also some of them, much like the platform that Bagnold ran on, believe the Magical and Muggle worlds should be closer than they actually are.
With the change in Minister, while Amelia's loyalty is with the Ministry first and foremost she might be willing to eventually support the Order she doubts she'll ever actively be recruited.
